Win $50,000 for Nigeria Media Innovation Program (NAMIP) in the United States in 2022. Nigeria Media Innovation Program 2022 in USA.
Nigeria Media Innovation Program
The Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) is seeking applicants for the Nigeria Media Innovation Program (NAMIP), which will take place in the United States in 2022.
Independent media in Nigeria, as in much of the developing world, is grappling with unsustainable business models and grant-dependence, while audiences are deprived of a diverse range of reliable news and information sources.
Many media organizations are unable to develop new revenue streams and build audiences that are critical to their future unless they have the capacity and financial means to experiment and innovate with business models and new products. Covid-19 has accelerated the crisis and exacerbated the media’s problems.
NAMIP, which is funded by the MacArthur Foundation, aims to address these issues by assisting media in increasing revenues, testing new business models, and instilling financial discipline. It will also assist participating media in developing a strong community of partnership and collaboration.
The Award’s Value
- Winners will receive up to $50,000 for their project, as well as mentoring and training.
- They will also become members of NAMIP’s supportive community of like-minded organizations, as well as its three-year innovation and capacity building program.
Eligibility
- The Innovation Challenge is looking for applications from media companies that are developing innovative news and information products that:
- Investigate opportunities to reach and connect with a larger audience via digital platforms and technologies; or
- Create new revenue-generating opportunities or long-term business models?
- NAMIP is on the lookout for
- existing independent media companies, non-profits, or new ventures just getting started
- mission-driven businesses and organizations eager to experiment with new approaches to local news and information
- Applicants with backgrounds outside of traditional journalism and media, particularly in technology, design, and business.
